alligators all gone!

After tropical storm Ernesto hit Richmond in 2006, Battery Park became a giant pond, possibly complete with alligators.  A pipe had burst under the park, causing it to flood and be almost destroyed.  The Battery Park Civic Association, alongside with the non-profit group Friends of Battery Park, has been working with the city to ensure the park’s timely restoration.  Three years later, the park is FINALLY open and ready for business!  Some of the features of this park include multiple tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds, a pool, a community center, and plenty of area to roam.  There will be a grand reopening ceremony with family activities on June 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There will also be a tennis tournament from June 16th – 18th.
