urban future: Atlanta’s shifting demographics

The following article discusses Atlanta’s changing urban and suburban localities in a post-civil rights era, with sprawl forcing a resurgence back into the city:


While Atlanta’s shifts have occurred at a faster rate than other growing cities, it is a rising trend, even in cities (like Richmond) where commuting traffic is not a primary issue.  I wonder if any changing neighborhoods will be able to integrate, or will simply force out its prior inhabitants through rising property taxes.  Most of the transition I have seen in my city has experienced the latter.
